reCaptcha and some text after the sign up form was created by alexsmirnov
joomlamailer version: 1.7
Joomla! version: 1.5.23
PHP version: 5.x
MySQL version: 5.x
hi there,
first off, thank you for giving us this nice newsletter comp.
i've just started playing with it on my upcoming new site on J! 1.5.23 and am still learning the ropes but so far so good.
imho, it would be nice to protect the sign up form from spam bots with some sort of ceptcha, preferably with the Google's reCapture.
another point is being able to enter some text after the fields the same way we can enter text before the form. it would come really handy, for example, for a short text like "We respect your privacy and will never share your email address with a third party".
just my 5 cents,
regards,
Alex Smirnov

Hello Alex,
Thanks for your input! About the captcha, I don't think that's really necessary. A subscriber will not be added to the list until he confirms his subscription by clicking a link in the confirmation email. A spambot doesn't do this and will therefore not appear in your list. Please let me know if you disagree. Maybe I overlooked something.
The text after the input fields is a good point. Would you prefer it below the signup button or above it? I would put it below.
Kind regards,
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thank you for your prompt answer.
I agree with your point on the double opt-in being an obstacle for the bots to create an account. Did not see it this way. Good point
Regarding the text, as imho its primary purpose would be to deal with last minute doubts and strengthen a call for a sign-up, I'd put it before the Submit button. Ideally, would be nice to be have both options though, in case one wants to run a split test, for example.
Thanks once again for the superb component.
Regards,
Alex
