"API KEY Seems to be incorrect" and "Lists" tab will not show

Hello,
I just installed the MailChimp component and am experiencing some problems. Firstly, when I past my API Key into the place where it asks, I get the error API Key seems to be incorrect. I have no idea why because I have checked and it is indeed the correct one. I tried a different browser and even created a new key but it keeps showing the same error. Also another problem is when I click "List" nothing happens. I can send you super admin details for you to take a look.
Thanks

Hi kevinmac,
Can you make sure that your server allows outgoing connections to mailchimp.com
Sometimes firewalls are blocking the outgoing API requests and therefore the API key can not be validated.
Best regards,
Peter

My mail server does accept outgoing connections. I am using Hostgator and have never had a problem with connections. I have several other websites on the same server.
Please advise.

Hello kevinmac,
It's hard to tell what exactly is the reason, but the problem is that the Joomla site can not connect to the MailChimp API in order to validate the API key. The first thing to check would be the firewall if there is one.
If you want you can send me a superadmin and FTP login and I will try to debug the problem. pete@freakedout.de
Regards,
Pete
