Install error with Joomla 3.4.0 was created by rphillips@quavant.com
After clicking the "Complete the Installation" button the install crashes with the message
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /data/15/1/93/36/1419525/user/1524413/htdocs/joomla1/administrator/components/com_joomailermailchimpintegration/installer/installer.php on line 145
I made several attempts with no changes. I'm using Joomla version 3.4.0 on Network Solutions. I was able to install the same downloaded zip file on my local XAMPP which is running Joomla version 3.3.6 and the install ran fine without error.
I suspect there is a problem due to the new 3.4.0 Joomla version.
Please advise.
Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,
This line contains javascript code and should not be parsed as php. I can not reproduce this error. Would it be possible for you to send me a superadmin login to your site and also ftp login? Then I could debug step by step to find out where it breaks.

Thanks and best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter:
No I am not comfortable handing over my credentials for my main site. Have you tested the install process on Joomla 3.4.0?
Found the following at www.rsjoomla.com/blog/view/294-fixing-th...s-installer-bug.html , which based on your response i wonder if this is related:
"Joomla! 3.4.0 introduced a new security feature, scanning uploaded files for potential dangerous code. For example, it scans uploaded archives for PHP code - something that should not be done in the Extensions Installer (com_installer). Fortunately, Joomla! contributors already debugged and fixed this (pull request here) so if you don't want to wait until 3.4.1 is released, read this blog post."
Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,
I can understand, of course. I might have found the reason. Can you kindly try to install the attached version and let me know if the installer works properly for you. Then I will release it to the public.
The problems seems to be a "<%" inside the javascript code, which is interpreted as opening php tags in some server environments.
Best regards,
Peter
UPDATE: fixed installation package attached

Yes that appears to have worked, the install completed without error, only a warning of incompatible with Community Builder but since i don't have that installed don't see that as an issue. I will work with it more extensively later today and advise.
Thanks for the quick turnaround.
Ron
