Problem installing joomlamailer 1.7 on Joomla 1.6.3

Joomla! version: 1.6.3
PHP version: ?
MySQL version: ?
I am new to joomlamailer. I just installed joomlamailer on a Joomla 1.6.3 site. All I see in the module manager is that joomlamailer has been installed. I can find now modules, pluggins, or component menu to access joomlamailer.
What can be wrong?

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. When you go in the top menu to Components, is there a menu item called "Newsletter"? This will bring up the joomlamailer component.
If you open the module manager or the plugin manager and enter "mailchimp" into the search box it should show you the joomlamailer module/plugin.
Kind regards,
Pete

I uninstalled and re-installed and now I see the Newsletter component under Components.
When I click on it, I get a page with a message
To finish your setup please complete one or more of the following steps:
Setup the signup plugin to make the option available for new site members to subscribe for your newsletter in the plugin manager.
Setup the signup module in the module manager to place a module anywhere on your site if you want to give non-members the option to subscribe to your newsletter.
Add your existing site users to your MailChimp lists via the list manager.
Add your Google Analytics, SugarCRM and/or Highrise API credentials in the parameters in case you want to connect with any of these services
If I click on the plugin manger or module manager links, it brings up each of the modules with a filter of "mailchimp signup", but not module or plugin is displayed. Thus I can't configure these components.
I could get the API key and install it.
Thanks!

If you did that then the reason is probably the same as described in this post: www.joomlamailer.com/topic.html?id=307&p=1#p1196
We will release an update soon which takes care of this bug.
Kind regards,
Pete

I reinstalled without removing and I got the same successful message, but no buttons. Now there is a "Newsleter" menu item and when click on lists, it takes me to a getting started page. I still have no modules or plugins installed so clicking on the configure options just gives me a module or plugin page with a filter that returns no components.
Thanks!

If you have Akeeba backup installed on your site please disable the system restore points plugin before you install joomlamailer (and create a backup manually before the installation!). Afterwards re-enable the plugin. We'll get in touch with the Akeeba guys to solve this issue.
(If you don't have a plugin with that name you have an older version of akeeba backup and everything should work fine.)
Kind regards,
Pete

Found this thread while trying to work out what's gone wrong with my install.
I've just installed Joomlamailer on Joomla 2.5.9 and keep getting this error message when trying to proceed to dashboard;
The www.boudiccafinancialsolutions.co.uk page isn’t working
www.boudiccafinancialsolutions.co.uk is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500
I get the same error when selecting the newsletter item from components drop down?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
