Joomlamailer component installation unsuccessful

Joomla! version:1.5.23
PHP version:5.29
MySQL version:5.1.36

I downloaded the component for Joomla and when installing I receive a blank screen after I have browsed to where the downloaded Jommlamailer zip file is located. I have enabled the maximum error reporting in the hope that this will supply me with a valuable clue, but no error messages appear. I have redownloaded the file also with no success and have logged in and out of joomla backend also with no success.

Any adivse would be most welcome.

PS: If this is a version issue could you please direct me to where the joomlamailer version are located. The only one that I seem to be able to find is 1.7.

1.7 is the current version.
The Joomla error reporting level seems to be overridden by the global PHP configuration. Please try to put this at the beginning of your .htaccess file:

php_flag display_errors on
php_value error_reporting 8

Then install joomlamailer again and see if a error message is displayed.
