A new user is added to the MailChimp list after he clicks the confirmation link in the activation email. If that link is not clicked they won't be added to MailChimp.
The userdata is stored temporarily in the table n8xiq_joomailermailchimpsignup
It's added to this table after signup and removed once they clicked the activation link. So this table basically contains all users which have checked the newsletter checkbox, but didnt confirm their account yet.
Kind regards,

I submitted an email to the list through the Mailchimp Signup module. Before I confirmed the email, it did not appear in the table:
n8xiq_joomailermailchimpsignup
Instead, it appeared in the table:
n8xiq_joomailermailchimpintegration
Once I confirmed the email it wasn't removed from this table. The table also contains multiple entries of users from the Joomla user table. I had previously gone through several rounds of adding all Joomla users to the Mailchimp list -- looks like each time I did this it added the record to the above table.
So my question is: what's the function of the n8xiq_joomailermailchimpintegration table? What happens if I delete records from the table? (looks like I'll have to do some sort of periodic housekeeping to keep the table from growing indefinitely).
Thanks for helping me sort this out!

In my previous post I was referring to the signup plugin, not the signup module.
The singup module works different. It doesn't do anything when you click the confirmation link as this email comes directly from MailChimp and doesn't interact with your Joomla site.
The function from the table n8xiq_joomailermailchimpintegration is to be able to tell, which registered user has been added to which list. So when you open the "add users to lists" screen in joomailer, the program knows which users are already in which lists.
When you add users to lists through "add users to lists" they will be added to this table with their userid and and the list id. If you unsubscribe or delete them through joomailer they will be removed from that table.
Also if a user unsubscribes by editing his profile his entry will be removed from this table.
If you don't have a lot of users (like 100k or more) you don't have to worry about the size of this table.
Kind regards,
Pete

The big drawback of adding users manually to your list is that you might not have the explicit confirmation that your users want to receive your newsletters. You would have to add a newsletter checkbox to your signup form somehow or add a paragraph to your terms and conditions, which your users have to accept.
MailChimp enforces a strict double opt-in policy and if you get more than 1% spam complaints in your campaign your account will get suspended. So it's very important that your users know that you will send them newsletters.
And no, you didn't miss anything else
Kind regards,
Pete
