List:Phone Merge Field Doesn't Exist on MailChimp List by default

OK, Today's email with 1.07, The phone merge field in the footer didn't fill. I'd put it in the Account-Contact Details on Mailchimp, so expected it to. User Error. Anyway, I just found the Merge Fields per List under List Data, and Phone is not there by default.
There are several opportunities to be of service here. First, if there's a valid Merge tag in the template that's not in the List, either create (best) it or throw an error (not best). There are probably some other smart things you can do with the API, I bet, in this area.
Thanks.

These fields will only be populated by Mailchimp once the email is sent.
There is no possibility to retrieve List Tag info via the API for individual lists, therefore, there is no possibility to check for tags that do not exist.

OK. There does seem to be something that should be tweaked here. Your template somehow has List:Phone and that doesn't exist by default, which creates a failure condition. Maybe the simplest thing is to use Account:Phone in the template?
Maybe the Chimps could pump up the API a bit to allow checking for missing merge fields. Never hurts to ask...
Thanks.

This template was taken from Mailchimps website and tweaked, so I would have thought that these fields would exist by default. We will remove non-existent ones for future releases and contact them regarding this.
