[Solved] A few bugs
Just found a few little bugs when creating a step by step tutorial for one of our clients...
1. Email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser.
This doesnt appear to work in test mode, im unsure if it works once a newsletter is launched live? I dont really want to test something on a live campaign,
The main difference when comparing the address to that of a newslteer generated by malchimp is:
Joomlailer: us1.campaign-archive.com/?u=a045bf97a2ea...ad3&id=b2c4728887&e=
MailChimps: us1.campaign-archive.com/?u=d2f30ca56d0d...051&id=472d156df5&e= [UNIQID]
2. Content Order
When setting up the order in which the artcile are displayed, if i save and send the article send in the order specidied. If however I return back to the content tab of an exisitng campaign, the order is reverted back to it original form.
e.g. Create Camapaign : Content Tab
Default order of articles
1 Article 1
2 Article 4
3 Article 3
4 Article 2
Moved using ajax into preferred order and saved
1 Article 1
2 Article 2
3 Article 3
4 Article 4
If I then return back to edit the campaign, the order automatically resets to default order:
1 Article 1
2 Article 4
3 Article 3
4 Article 2
These are the only two issues I can see so far, very well done putting together a sweet piece of kit!

As for the mentioned issues:
1.) The weblink does only work once you sent the campaign because this web version and the link is generated by MailChimp after you sent the campaign. The reason why it doesn't work when you send a test is that right after the test is sent, the campaign is deleted from the MailChimp system to prevent duplicates. That also deletes the web version of the campaign so when the test email arrives the web version doesn't exist anymore. You could create another list in the MailChimp web interface and add your email to it for a live test.
2.) This is indeed an error. Every time you load the create page the articles are drawn from the Joomla database and the tables are rendered accordingly to the article order. I will put this on the todo list right away but I don't think this will make it in the very next version (1.0.6) as we are almost done with it.
Kind regards,
Pete

Thats brilliant news, I dont suppose yu could let us know when the release which the order error fix would be released?
As for the manual, yes i dont see why i cannot do this, i wont be able to use the paticular manual we personalise each manual to match the clients setup...thats right screenshots specific to each unique control panel!
But we will be doing a genric one shortly, ill stick it on my list of things to do...

1. The upload template function doesnt seem to upload correctly, I had to manually upload via ftp into the relevent folder for the component to display the thumbnail. Ive responded to one of the other peoples topics in reference to this issue.
2. Possible Ajax error: If we for example when to the 'create a camapaign' and then go the the sidebar tab. If we then accidently click the:
"Create a list of the selected articles in the template's sidebar. " which appears to be a link but isnt, what it does do is stop you from clicking the on/off button unless you refresh the page.
3. A feature request. The default email address uses the joomla global email setting, we normally keep these seperate, is there any way this will be changed ata later date?
thats it for now keep up the good work

2.) Already taken care of in v1.0.6
3.) Good point. We will add these fields to the component parameters and if supplied this will override the values taken from the global config.

Just a few more...
1. Template Thumnails
Pete wrote: The thumbnail can be of the type png, jpg, gif or bmp (and as of v1.0.6 also jpeg).
Kind regards,
Pete
Pete I can only seem to get the thumnail working if it in a Jpeg, Png doesnt do it - gif and bmp i havent test - Im using version 1.0.5.
2. Delete Save Campaigns, how do you do this? If i go to the control panel dashboard > more then attempt to delete the campaign I get an error: Invalid Campaign ID
3. More of a question : Account details : "Approved: No (Info)" hoiw do we get this to "Approved Yes"
4. Another Question : Mailing Address is this stored within the Joomla's Database or within Mailcinp as the details that come through are not correct despire updating the newsletter contact info within mailchimp?
So many questions so little time
Thanks again

Deleting saved campaigns is a known bug in 1.0.5 and will be working as of v1.0.6.
How to get your account approved is a question you need to ask the MailChimp support. All I can tell you is what is stated on their website: "human reviewers at MailChimp must approve all new accounts before they're allowed to purchase credits from MailChimp and send campaigns. Our staff uses 26 different criteria to evaluate trial accounts, ranging from the obvious WHOIS and IP information, to some not-so-obvious behavioral patterns." I would recommend getting in touch with their live support. They are usually very helpfull with questions like this. www.mailchimp.com/help/
4.) I'm not sure which mailing address you mean? If it's not the email address defined in your Joomla configuration it's probably a list related setting which you can update on the MailChimp site in the list settings.
Kind regards,
Pete
